Things going backwards

Unfortunately, things have regressed a fair bit.

  1. I'm in middle Georgia which is apparently far from pretty much everything.
  2. COVID. So I'm not going out. :(
  3. I lost access to the Adobe Creative Suite via work and the normal per month cost is hard to justify.
  4. Things have gotten a bit worse, health-wise.

On a more positive note, I've gotten some photos from my Florida trip last summer off my old phone and hope to do a general post of those. I also hope to go to either Providence Canyon State Park or FDR State Park on Saturday. I will have to get their early since they mention restricting access to the parks if they get crowded. And it's supposed to be nice out Saturday.

The First Video is Up!

After many years of planning, I have finally uploaded my first hiking video to Youtube. It's... far from perfect. lol. But it is my first time. My recordings are less than ideal due to using a smart phone and just holding it close to my chest to record. I'm debating whether to continue to make the actually-hiking videos or to do the style I've seen more often of just in-one-place recordings. Perhaps both for now, until I decide which I like better. The whole idea is to allow others a chance to "get out into nature" from their homes if they are unable to go out there themselves for whatever reason.

I used Adobe Premiere Pro for the first time. With the help of Google, it's not terribly hard to get started on. I have access to tutorial videos through work, so I should take advantage of that.

I threw out about half of the footage I took due to bad sounds. Some of the ones I kept still had human sounds, but it was better than the others at least. In the future, I will be more careful to keep those out of the audio.

Here's to the future!

Lock-down, Goal Planning, and the Three Minute Attention Span

It's really tough to do the things you want to when anxiety and ADD gets in the way. I have hiking photos gathering dust, so to speak, on my phone that I should post (at least to Instagram), yet here I am avoiding posting them for yet another day, another week. Is it Executive Function Disorder? Depression? Who knows...

So now it's early April. The weather is a roller-coaster of summer weather, then back to winter, then back to summer. The sky is usually blue and the flowers are blooming (and my sinuses are feeling it). I find myself wanting to get out and enjoy this fine weather, yet here I am "enjoying" the solitude of indoor activities. Alas.

I have written out my "Big Goal" finally, which is: To travel to many parks and take hiking footage and nature recordings to upload to youtube as long videos for relaxation.

In more 'metaphysical' terms, I want to share the good feelings I get from hiking and viewing nature with others who may be unable to go out there themselves.

So... the equally big questions are: How do I go about achieving this? What items do I need, especially to start?

This is where I wish i had someone to guide me, someone who has experience recording nature, who can point me in the direction of a sort-of 'starter' pack of equipment. I would also need some guidance in learning to USE said equipment. (And this is where that short attention span bites me in the ass.)

In parting, here is a photograph of a trail.
